2008

Franco and Bernardo arrive in South France from Brazil and Portugal, where they become friends.

2009

Bernardo starts his Hotel and Restaurant Management degree while Franco starts Culinary School.

Franco starts working at the 2-Michelin-starred Restaurant La Chevre d’Or near Monaco, and Bernardo is in his second year working at the art-centered Hotel Windsor in Nice.

2010

Franco moves to Paris to work at the 3-Michelin Star restaurant Guy Savoy.

2011

After finishing his degree, Bernardo moves to Paris to work at the five-star Shangri-La Hotel, which boasts two Michelin-starred restaurants, two Michelin-starred L’Abeille, and one Michelin-starred Shang Palace.

Franco starts working at Alain Ducasse at the Plaza Athenée, the legendary property’s three-Michelin-starred restaurant.

2012

Franco achieves 2nd place in San Pellegrino’s Best Young Chef in France amongst 3000 candidates.

2013

Bernardo starts working at the 2-Michelin-starred restaurant David Toutain in Paris.

2016

Franco and Bernardo arrive in the United States at the age of 25 to operate Jema as Executive Chef and General Manager in Huntington, New York.

2017

Jema is awarded Best Fine Dining Restaurant in Long Island by Newsday.

2018

Franco and Bernardo start working on the business plan for Frevo in January 2018.

Franco and Bernardo sign the lease for 48 W 8th St in the Greenwich Village in December and start a five-month renovation process.

2019

In March, TOMA-L comes to New York City to create his first two exhibitions for Frevo. During the renovation of the soon-to-be art gallery, Thomas transforms the space into his temporary workshop.

Quentin Vauleon, recognized as the Best Young Sommelier in France in 2017, joins the Frevo opening team.

Frevo opens to the public on May 17th with a team of five people and an art exhibition by TOMA-L.

Only three months after opening its doors, Frevo is awarded 2-Stars by the New York Times in September.

2020

Frevo is forced to close in March due to the global pandemic shutdown.

Chef Franco is included on the list for Forbes 30 under 30 Brazil

2021

After one year of forced closure, indoor spaces are authorized to reopen in February.

During the month of July, Frevo renovates the open kitchen, installing a custom-made range by Athanor. The space now features a fully equipped kitchen line for the first time.

Collaboration with Christian Dior Fragrances to mark the occasion, Chef Franco Sampogna creates a dessert inspired by their new fragrance.

Frevo hosts its first Art Curator Series, featuring curator Destinee Ross-Sutton, who showcases an exhibition with American rising star artist Khari Turner.

First Exhibition with photographer Richard Corman showcasing rare portraits of the artist Jean Michel Basquiat in his former studio on Great Jones Street in the 1980s.

Frevo hosts its first chef collaboration dinner in December, welcoming Chef Alberto Landgraf from 2-Michelin-starred Oteque in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

2022

In March, Thomas Labarthe, aka TOMA-L, returns to New York City for a new sold-out show at Frevo named FACES.

Frevo hosts its second chef collaboration dinner in May with Chef Hiroyasu Kawate from 2-Michelin-starred Florilége in Tokyo, Japan.

Second exhibition with photographer Richard Corman, showcasing never-before-seen portraits of Keith Haring taken blocks away from Frevo in his Broadway studio in the 80s.

In September, Frevo announces an exclusive collaboration with Acqua di Parma to launch a new fragrance collection. Chef Franco Sampogna creates a dessert inspired by their latest fragrance.

After a one-year hiatus caused by the pandemic, the Michelin Guide hosts a ceremony in New York in October, and Frevo obtains its first Michelin Star.

2023

The James Beard Foundation nominates Chef Franco Sampogna as a finalist for Best Chef in New York State.

Opening of a new show at the art gallery featuring Brooklyn-born Street artist Flore.

Chef Franco is invited to create the menu for La Compagnie, a business-class-only airline that operates flights from Europe to New York. 

In April, Frevo hosts its third Chef Collaboration dinner, welcoming Chef Joao Rodrigues, former Executive Chef of Michelin-Starred Feitoria, in Lisbon, Portugal.

In May, Frevo hosts its first Gallery Collaboration featuring British artist Jake Wood Evans, a show curated in collaboration with UNIT London.

In August, Frevo undergoes its first major interior renovation spearheaded by Rockwell Group and L’Observatoire International

Residency of French painter and sculptor David Djordjevic during the interior renovation of Frevo. During a period of two weeks, David follows TOMA-L’s tradition and transforms the art gallery into his workshop, where he creates the sold-out show, WHERE I BELONG.

Frevo receives a Michelin Star for the second consecutive year in October.

Forbes includes Frevo on its annual All-Star Eateries List in New York City.

In December, TOMA-L returns to New York City to unveil his newest book, MALA BESTIA, and showcase his latest body of work, MALA TYPO, a six-piece collection created exclusively for Frevo.

2024

In January, Frevo is included in the limited selection of the World 50 Best Restaurants Discovery for the first time.

On April 1st, Frevo inaugurates its second collaboration with UNIT London, GLIMMER, which showcases an entirely new body of work by American sculptor and painter Nicolas Holiber.

Frevo is recognized with the award for Best Organic Wine List in North America by the World of Fine Wine Awards, which took place in London in September. 

On September 3rd, Frevo opens its newest art exhibition, featuring installation artist AKACORLEONE (Pedro Campiche) from Portugal.
