FREVO is proud to announce the opening of its newest exhibition, featuring New York City-born Nicolas Holiber, curated by UNIT.

For the first time in his career, Holiber ventures into the realm of pure abstraction, presenting viewers with a collection that embodies a new dimension of his creative evolution.

“The paintings in this exhibition mark a new direction in my work,” shares Holiber. “I wouldn’t define myself as an abstract painter per se, but I’ve developed a process that allows me to arrive at abstraction rather than have it be the focus of my pursuit. And it’s the process itself that really drives the work.”

In this new exhibition, Holiber employs a unique and labor-intensive method, infusing each piece with a tangible sense of energy and spontaneity. “It’s physical and laborious, painstaking and tedious, but also surprising and beautiful,” he explains. Through a meticulous process of carving, cutting, peeling, and ripping into wet paintings, Holiber creates intricate layers of texture and depth. The evidence of his hand is palpable, with smudges, collisions of color, and punctures that witness the artist’s visceral engagement with each canvas.

Tuesday to Saturday / 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM (or by appointment) / Until July 31st
